From Dirty Linen #118 (June/July 2005)
The Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band The Pork n’ Beans Collection [self-released (2004)] I’m sure there’s an audience for this CD somewhere. Not the folks who enjoy the, er, enigmatic sound of the Shaggs, but maybe those who buy those old 33-1/3s of Leonard Nimoy singing “Strawberry Fields,” or whatever. This is a truly bad album, but it’s almost bad in a good way. Rev. Peyton, the front man, has this voice that sounds like Satan is intermittently pinching his nasty bits, and when “Washboard” Breezy Peyton joins him on backing vocals, keep the volume low if you don’t live in a dog-free neighborhood. But the Rev isn’t a bad guitarist, and if you’re really stoned (drugs are bad, kids), you might enjoy the peculiar chordal sojourns on “Pork Chop Biscuit.” Oh, and the beans on the cover look pretty tasty. Are you fucking retarded? Rev. Peyton sings with a deep Baritone. I can't find any MP3's, but here is their myspace link www.myspace.com/therevpeytonsbigdamnband
Their new CD is awesome.
